I have been to Italy before, although this mostly covered the Northern part, called Südtirol (South Tyrol), where the majority of people speak German.
Apart from the occasional day trip to Venice when staying there, I’ve not had the chance to explore the kind of Italy which paints the romantic picture everybody has in mind when thinking of the country.
On this weekend trip we have had the chance to explore and enjoy the Italian capital to its fullest. It is not as huge and overwhelming as other European capitals. I’d describe it as cozy, with all its corner cafés, trattorias and pittoresque buildings. In the ancient center there’s literally a famous sight behind every corner. You can see the collection of all the famous places I visited here soon.
As a first-time visitor I try to explore each and every alley or patio I spot and even take a walk to remote places. You might find the most beautiful things hidden in peculiar places.
More of Rome…
