Our selection of interior design elements – final status after sampling
You may see pictures of the new construction on this blog in a few months and wonder what choices we made for the interior in our Viebrock house. Well, without further ado, here are the main elements of the interior in the Viebrock house and the final status after sampling:
- Floor tiles in the entrance and bathroom areas (concrete look – “Century unlimited” medium gray from Villeroy & Boch, 60×60 cm), laid in cross joint (joint color identical to tile color)
- Wall tiles in the bathrooms: Urbantones (white glossy) by Villeroy & Boch in 10×20 cm (looks almost like a classic metro tile), laying in half-joint, grout color white
- Oak parquet plank, planed surface, uneven / many knotholes (we did not order through Viebrock, because they real wood parquet is not durable enough…): Therefore, at this point only a similar picture. All the living space except the above tiled areas will be fitted with it. We have hired a local carpenter to do it.
- There will be black baseboards to go with it. YOLO.
(exception: in the bathrooms the baseboard will be cut from the floor tile) - white interior doors with 4 horizontal milling with black door handles (or black recessed grip on the sliding door)
- Sockets in anthracite (looks like black)
- we don’t have “normal” switches, because our whole electrical system is based on KNX (there will be a separate blog post about this in due time)
- free wooden stairs in dusty gray (RAL 7037) with black metal struts
- Bathroom: black faucets of the Dornbracht Meta series, in our main bathroom at the bathtub and in the shower under plaster, also on the ground floor the tap comes directly out of the wall.
- tiled shower, in the guest bathroom for cost reasons with drain in the middle (saves a few hundred euros), then upstairs with black drain on the wall
- Vanity: we discarded the sinks and faucets in the main bathroom at Viebrock because we didn’t want the standard program. That’s when we found what we were looking for at a local bathroom showroom that’s part of the Elements chain, and we hired their in-house craftsmen on the spot. Actually, I would have wanted to have concealed faucets here, too, but we didn’t like the countertop washbasins from Villeroy & Boch or the catalog price was too expensive for 08/15 standard. We didn’t save any money with it, but the alternative solution on the right in the picture is certainly not available to any Viebrock builder, because it’s not off the shelf.
